The purpose of Form 575E is to protect the taxpayer against a loss of qualified property which it owns. In general, the Form 575E should only be filed if the qualified property exceeds 25,000 in cost, or is more than 100 percent of the fair market value of the property upon disposition. The Form 575E is a tax form. It is also a record that is kept on the taxpayer's personal computer. Form 575E should include any items which are not required to be reported on Form 1040 and may be of interest to potential creditors. What if I did not realize the loss until later? If you do not file a Form 575E, you cannot take an income tax credit for any of the loss. For more information, see What happens if I do not file my Form 575E? What is the filing status of Form 575E? You may be a new Form 575E taxpayer, or you may have filed both Forms 575E when you previously owned qualified property. There are three filing statuses for Form 575E tax returns: 0: No tax return filed. 1099. 2040. 1: New Form 575E tax return filed. What information is on Form 575E? You should fill out Form 575E in the following order for each taxpayer: The person's name and address of residence. Date of filing. Address of the taxpayer's business, and the taxpayer's principal office of the taxpayer's trade or business. The taxpayer's name, address, tax identification number and date of birth.
